Buy Glenallachie OnlineGlenallachie distillery was built in 1967 beside the Lour burn above Aberlour by Charles Mackinlay & Co to a functional design by the architect William Delmé Evans, and is typical of 1960's single level distillery architecture. The cooling water is drawn from ponds created by a dam in the river fed from a small waterfall, and this provides the distillery's most attractive feature. The warm water from the condensers is piped back to the ponds, which gives them a steamy look in winter and is enjoyed by the ducks, which are included in the inventory. It is the younger twin of the more famous Aberlour distillery.
